The BUBS, Belangenvereniging Umpires Baseball & Softball, or: Baseball & Softball Umpires Union.
The BUBS welcomes both umpires and scorers as members and takes care of the interests of all baseball and softball officials.
Six times per year we publish The Umpire Magazine with articles on rules, mechanics and other news or information that may be of interest to our officials.
Every year in the early spring the BUBS organizes a weekend for the umpires and scorers. During this weekend we hold our annual meeting and discuss and practice rules and mechanics. This weekend is also a social gathering at the beginning of the new season. A lot of our members participate in and look forward to this annual event.
The BUBS cooperates and, when necessary, negotiates with the Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Federation on matters such as game fees, clinics, umpire- and scorer development programs etc.
The BUBS also assists umpires and scorers in case of problems related to their officiating.
Furthermore we offer our services to baseball and softball clubs in order to help them organize basic umpire or scorer clinics for their members.
We don’t assign umpires to games, that’s the job of the Federation.
